Leeds United have left Chelsea speechless with a gutsy performance that left them 2-0 up at half-time.

While Raheem Sterling looked to have taken the lead for the Blues after 15 minutes, his goal was disallowed and the Whites were able to take advantage in the remainder of the half.

While Rodrigo made it four goals in three matches with United’s second, it was the howler by goalkeeper Edouard Mendy to gift Brendan Aaronson the opener that has had people talking.

After receiving a backpass, the Chelsea keeper opted to hang onto the ball close to his goal before attempting to clear it, however Aaronson was able to block it before it even left Mendy’s foot and went onto coolly walk the ball into the net to claim his first goal for the Whites.

The Sky Sports pundits unsurprisingly discussed the mistake by Mendy at half-time, with former goalkeeper Shay Given having his say on the goal - while also defending the Senegal international.

Given said: “He has a really poor first touch and his heads scrambled at that point. In the worse case you can probably kick it out for a corner - just don't do what you do.

“The only thing in Edouard Mendy's defence - not too many Chelsea players have ran into a position to receive the ball off him but it's still a terrible mistake from Mendy.

“He knows he has to clear his lines, you can see his reaction after. It's a poor poor ball to give away.”
