Chelsea have sealed a deal to bring Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion to Stamford Bridge this summer as Enzo Maresca looks to add firepower to his squad ahead of a debut campaign with the Blues.
The 20-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season in La Liga last time out and had emerged as a transfer target for several Premier League clubs. As the summer window opened earlier this year, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were named as 'keen' suitors by Mundo Deportivo but a touted release clause of between £70 and £80 million was an obstacle.

That's according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who took to social media platform X on Tuesday morning to write: "Chelsea have all set with Samu Omorodion to join the club on seven-year contract, valid until June 2031. Personal terms agreed and Atlético to receive £35m fee, as revealed yesterday. Green light only when Atlético will complete all final steps for Julián Álvarez."
The deal represents a major coup for Chelsea with Omorodion emerging as one of the continent's most exciting prospects. The striker bagged nine La Liga goals last term when on loan at Alaves, despite only completing 90 minutes on three occasions.

The talisman has had a busy summer this year, representing Spain at the Olympics. Omorodion is part of the under-23 side that booked a place in the final by beating Morocco in dramatic fashion on Monday evening.

Omorodion is now guaranteed a medal from Paris 2024 and will face off against France in the final in Lyon on Friday, August 9.
