Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson still stands by the fact that the club still has a fight on their hands to hold on to outstanding winger Michael Olise with both Chelsea and Manchester City interested.

Chelsea are in the market for a wide player who has the ability to also play in the middle with Olise leading a list of three players which includes Brighton target Mohammed Kudus and Lyon Rayan Cherki.

Manchester City have had a look at him too as they look to replace the departed Riyad Mahrez for the upcoming season. Chelsea are plotting their next move having woken up to the news that striker Christopher Nkunku has picked up a knee injury and could be out for a while.

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson who revealed they had a fight on their hands to keep hold of the wingers admitted they were still in the situation with the clubs trying to tempt his star.

He is quoted by the Manchester Evening News: “No one knows at this moment. If there are clubs desperately or seriously preparing a bid and tempting him then he’ll have a decision.

“I can only wait and see what decision is he going to make. He knows we are very keen to keep him. You can never be certain that the players you’ve got, like, want are definitely going to stay - we have a transfer market. I can only hope that the market doesn’t on this occasion punish us by persuading one of our very important players to move.”

The France under-21 star is still injured after picking up a knock last month while out with his country and is expected to miss the first few weeks of the season.
