Chelsea could reportedly offload another of their unwanted stars before the transfer window in Turkiye shuts.

Chelsea could still offload a key senior player after the the closure of the summer transfer window with windows elsewhere in Europe. Saudi Arabia’s transfer window is now shut, but clubs in Türkiye are still doing their summer shopping.

The Turkish window does not shut until September 13, and Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce are among the clubs still looking to strengthen before their window shut. Reports claim Mourinho is currently considering the signing of a Chelsea star who was linked with a move away from the club in the main window.

According to TEAMtalk, Mourinho and Fenerbahce are interested in a deal for Ben Chilwell, who does not look like featuring in Enzo Maresca’s plans for this season. The report claims the Turkish giants have already contacted Chelsea to explore a possible loan deal.

It’s claimed talks are set to intensify this weekend, while Chilwell is said to have preferred to stay in the Premier League, as you would expect, but faced with the possibility of warming the bench for the duration of the season, a move to Turkiye to work with Mourinho may become his preference.

Chilwell was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer, but it did not pan out. The full-back has struggled with injuries during his time at Chelsea, but he has still played an important part, starting in Chelsea’s Champions League final and many other key games. The 27-year-old is currently under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2027.

Maresca on Chilwell treatment

Questioned earlier this summer over his firm handling of Raheem Sterling - who has since joined Arsenal on loan - and Chilwell, Chelsea boss Maresca responded: “Brutal? I don't think so. I try to be honest. I can repeat again if it's not clear: I spoke with Raheem before the City game. I said he is going to struggle to get minutes with us and this is the reason why he is out of the squad.

"With Chilly, I said he is a lovely guy, but he is going to struggle because of his position. He is going to struggle. If you define this as brutal, it's up to you to decide. For me, it's not brutal, it's just honest."
