Confirmed Chelsea XI vs Liverpool as Mauricio Pochettino keeps faith with £11.8m signing in League Cup final

The Chelsea starting line-up for their Carabao Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley today.

Mauricio Pochettino has snubbed the temptation to make changes to his team and has kept faith with Serbian goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic in post despite Robert Sanchez returning to full fitness

The former  New England Revolution joined Chelsea for £11.8 million in the summer but not even he would have envisaged he'd be playing in the League Cup three months later.

He benefitted from the injury to Sanchez in December and has barely looked back. The last few games have been impressive with Chelsea defying the odds to travel to Villa Park and beat Unai Emery's side to progress in the FA Cup.

They then showed character to come from a goal behind and beat Crystal Palace before being incredibly unlucky not to leave the Etihad with all three points after being denied by a late Rodri strike. Before that, they had a chance to go 2-0 in the game they dominated massively.

Ahead of today's game the Chelsea boss also hinted he might bring in Thiago Silva but he's kept faith with Levi Colwill in defence as he goes in search of his personal first trophy on English soil and the club's first trophy under new owners. Silva left out entirely.

Liverpool beat Chelsea 4-1 when they met a couple of weeks ago at Anfield but Chelsea have turned the corner since and Liverpool have injuries to regular starters including Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold

There was also a temptation to recall French forward Christopher Nkunku, but Pochettino has decided otherwise. Here is the team the Argentinian manager has put out to try and win the title.
