Chelsea’s hopes at securing a treble in Emma Hayes’s final season have vanished after Manchester United recorded their first ever win over the Blues in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday 14 April. Jonas Eidevall’s Arsenal had already scuppered plans for a quadruple trophy win with a 1-0 win in the FA WSL Cup but now Marc Skinner’s Red Devils have ended any possibility of three trophies following a 2-1 victory at Leigh Sports Village.

Hayes’s final domestic aim now lies with the Women’s Super League - which Manchester City are currently leading - and they will now need to record a win of more than one goal over upcoming opponents Aston Villa if they are to get back to the top of the league.

Chelsea continue to be without the services of Millie Bright, Aniek Nouwen, Maren Mjelde, Sam Kerr and Mia Fishel due to injury and as the side are also to take on Barcelona in this weekend’s Champions League semi-final, Hayes could make several changes to the starting line-up.

Villa, on the other hand, will be without Lucy Parker, Daphne van Domselaar, Lucy Staniforth and Kirsty Hanson while Sara Mayling and Max Pacheco are likely to make their return to the starting line-up after being dropped to the bench for the side’s recent draw against Leicester.
