Chelsea host Liverpool at Stamford Bridge in an intriuging Premier League encounter on Sunday with the rivals locked in an unprecedented transfer battle.

Both clubs have submitted bids for Southampton’s Romeo Lavia and Brighton’s Moisés Caicedo. Liverpool currently have the biggest offer on the table for the Brighton man while Chelsea have usurped the Reds’ last bid for Lavia amid reports they are close to an agreement with Southampton.

Caicedo is reported to prefer a move to London while Lavia wants to join the Merseyside club. Plenty more twists can be expected as the sides prepare to meet tomorrow. But as attention now turns to the clash between the teams, we have rounded up the latest injury news from both camps.

Chelsea

Benoit Badiashile, Marcus Bettinelli, Armando Broja, Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana and Christopher Nkunku will all be absent for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Nkunku picked up a knee injury which will rule him out for an extended period, it was confirmed earlier this week.

Speaking of the injury, Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino said: “We feel very sorry about him. He was doing well, he was a very important player for us. I think the quality is there, one of the best offensive players that can play in different positions that always is a big issue for us.”

Liverpool

The Reds are set to be without midfielder Stefan Bajcetic who did not feature for the club in pre-season after picking up an injury in March. Meanwhile, senior midfielder Thiago is back in training after missing the final weeks of last season.

It is unclear if he will be available to face Chelsea, as Klopp said of Thiago’s status: “He’s now training. He came in and asked about his role and we spoke. [He’s a] super-experienced player. He stepped up in that department. He has only been in team training for a week but very vocal. He is going to be very helpful for us.”
