Chelsea pushed for Duran

Chelsea reportedly pushed for a deal to sign Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran late in the transfer window amid failed attempts to land Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

Graeme Bailey told The Chelsea Chronicle: “It was something that they were trying for really hard [signing a striker]. Jhon Duran was someone that they were back and forth for a number of times, even on Deadline Day, I was told conversations took place.”

Coman efforts

The Blues are also said to have been involved in talks over a deal to sign Bayern Munich winger Kinglsey Coman, with Manchester United and Tottenham also submitting interest.

According to Fichajes, all three clubs were in with a shot of landing the pacey winger who ultimately stayed put at Bayern despite falling down the pecking order over recent times. Coman was reportedly available on a loan deal, but the Blues signed Jadon Sancho, likely ending interest there. United and Spurs decided not to press ahead for a deal.

Bergvall on his step up

New Tottenham star Lucas Bergvall has been speaking about the step up he has had to make after joining Spurs in the summer. He told Goteborgs-Posten while international duty with Sweden: “It’s more generally how professional everything is there. Everything is a step better, which maybe you could expect but didn’t really realise.”

After being praised by national team boss Jon Dahl Tomasson for his quick adaptation to life in the Premier League, Bergvall added: “It’s nice to be praised, of course. To be told that what you’re doing is good, but at the same time, it’s also a motivation to get even better. There are always things I can improve on.”
