The star could soon become the 43rd member of Chelsea’s squad as they battle for a new striker

Chelsea are reportedly now discussing ‘personal terms’ with their long-term transfer target Victor Osimhen after it emerged that the Blues had finally submitted a formal offer to sign the superstar.

The Nigerian striker has been the hot topic of this summer’s transfer window but, with only two days to go until Deadline Day, he was yet to secure an official move. Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli reportedly approached Napoli with a £65m offer for their striker, who has 65 goals in 108 Serie A games, but the forward has made it clear that his preferences have been to move to the Premier League.

Having been the subject of intense interest from Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain as well as Al-Ahli, it is now the Stamford Bridge club who look closest to securing the lucrative move and the latest indications suggest that the last minute nature of such a deal could bode exceptionally well for Enzo Maresca’s side.

BBC Sport journalist Nizaar Kinsella has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to write: “Chelsea have been discussing personal terms with Victor Osimhen to see whether a deal is viable, with other strikers on the shortlist. Club-to-club fee unlikely to be an issue. Last minute nature of the talks gives a chance to squeeze Napoli, who are under pressure to sell.”

Earlier in the window, Osimhen’s valuation had been set at stunningly high figure of £110m but the Serie A club have now reportedly brought this down to closer to £55m as their desperation in wanting to cash-in on the Nigerian’s sale begins to show.

Despite Chelsea currently having a squad of over 40 players, many Blues fans have argued that the SW6 club still require an out-and-out striker. Brentford’s Ivan Toney was also reported to have gained last minute interest from Chelsea as they seek to get one more deal over the line before Friday night, but with ‘personal terms’ reported to have been discussed, it would appear the signing of the summer could soon be taking place in west London.
