A Chelsea star could push for a transfer move away from the club in the January transfer window, according to reports

Chelsea fringe player Noni Madueke could seek a transfer move away from Stamford Bridge in the January window, as he continues to struggle for playing time under the stewardship of head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Madueke is frustrated with his lack of minutes in the senior team this season. If he does not get what he wants, he will look to leave the club in the winter.

Chelsea are hoping to hold on to Madueke, despite the lack of playing time they have handed him this season. So far, the 21-year-old has made just eight appearances in all competitions in 2023/24, scoring a single goal and failing to rack up any assists.

It seems that the Blues feel he still requires development before he can command a regular spot in the matchday squad. However, he is unlikely to progress as a footballer while he is not playing while it is entirely possible that he could leave the club on loan, rather than permanently.

Should Chelsea allow Noni Madueke to leave the club?

For all of Madueke's talents, it is difficult to argue him occupying the role of a regular starter in the Chelsea team. Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer have both been excellent so far this season - Carney Chukwuemeka also looked impressive before his injury.

If Madueke wants regular first team football, he may be best advised to seek a move. Pochettino seems to view him as little more than a rotation option - especially as he seems more inclined to give minutes to the much-maligned Mykhailo Mudryk.

Madueke is brilliant wide man - his pace, dribbling ability and desire to get forward make him a very effective attacking player. He could be a star for another club as Chelsea's loss could be somebody else's gain.
