Chelsea have moved in to secure the loan signing of Portuguese star João Félix as they look to bolster their squad and help manager Graham Potter.

The 23-year-old scored for Portugal at the World Cup and was tracked by Manchester United, Arsenal and even Liverpool but according to highly respected journalist Fabrizio Romano, he’s verbally agreed to move to west London and will fly into London for his medical.

Before moving to Atletico Madrid he was also a transfer target for some of Europe’s best clubs but it was the Spanish side who won the battle to sign him and they had to pay £ 113 million in 2019.

Things haven’t gone quite smooth for the hugely talented forward even though the World Cup was a reminder of how special he is when played in the right system and in the right frame of mind.

Chelsea have almost 10 players out injured and were out-powered by Manchester City in the FA Cup, so manager Graham Potter would be delighted to have someone like Felix to call on.

According to reports in Spain, Felix has signed a contract extension at Atletico and the loan deal does not include an option to buy, so he is likely to head back to Madrid when the season is over.

Felix has scored five goals and provided three assists for Atletico in 20 outings this season.

Chelsea sit 10th in the Premier League table and will need to bounce back against Fulham and Crystal Palace to take some pressure off manager Graham Potter.
