The Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino still just processing the defeat to West Ham United provided an update on the young midfielder’s injury saying everyone will have to wait. He told reporters after the game: “Now we need to assess him tomorrow. See what happened with his knee. It was really bad luck.”

On suffering his first defeat he admitted sometimes this can happen and that he was going to have a look at where it went wrong for his side. He added: “That is football and this type of thing happens and we have to accept. There are things we did wrong and we need to analyse the game and accept our faults.

“I think we created chances in the first half and we didn't use and after Carney, we had to re-shape the team and we didn’t find the balance.

“We were full of energy from the beginning but it was disappointing from the beginning and I told the players about this. I’m disappointed because we need to win this type of game and there are many things I think we have to improve.”
