Chelsea remain interested in signing Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo as they continue their winter spending spree.

According to a report by Football.london, Brighton rejected a bid in the region of £55 million for the Ecuadorian midfielder - but Chelsea are looking to move on from the era of N’Golo Kante era and will press on again before this window shuts.

Graham Potter knows the Ecuadorian midfielder from his time at the club and is said to be impressed with his attitude and application.

But the signing of Marc Cucurella for a record fee for a left-back has many at Chelsea feeling like another £ 60 million for a Seaguls player might be too too much a risk.

Brighton have kicked on since Potter left and Roberto De Zerbi has got them playing a brand of attacking football that has seen them beat both Chelsea and Liverpool at the Amex - banishing any thought of a drop off since the departure of Potter.

There is an argument to be made that they are the best-run club in the Premier League, with an effective scouting system continually bringing in new talent.

Chelsea have eight days to try to lure the midfielder with the transfer window closing next week.

This winter, Chelsea have already signed Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk, with the latter looking very bright against Liverpool on his debut.

They are also looking to offload players including Hakim Ziyech and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
