Chelsea player ratings vs Manchester United: two score 4/10 and plenty 5/10s in defeat

Chelsea's wait for a win at Old Trafford continued after a passive performance led to another defeat.

Scott McTominay scored twice to condemn Chelsea to a 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford. The win eases the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag and turns the heat on Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Manchester United started the game the better side, winning a penalty which David Sanchez saved before Scott McTominay's strike gave Manchester United the lead.

Chelsea stayed in the game and as the half went on grew in confidence, with Cole Palmer finishing off a brilliant strike to level it six minutes to halftime.

Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino had enough of the tentative play from his team and made changes at halftime, bringing on captain Reece James for Marc Cucurella.

That did little to swing the momentum of the game with Manchester United continuing to probe and look the dangerous side in the game.

Robert Sanchez saved a header from McTominay and Alejandro Garnacho attempted another specular bicycle kick, but unlike the game against Everton, he struck his effort wide.

The pressure ultimately paid off with Scott McTominay heading home the second goal minutes later despite hints of a push on Levi Colwill on his way.

Reece James and Armando Broja both had shots on target in an attempt to draw Chelsea back but Manchester United held on for a vital win.
