Chelsea player ratings: 'Disappointing' 4/10 and 'shaky' 5/10 in 4-1 Liverpool defeat

Chelsea player ratings as Blues suffer deserved heavy defeat at Anfield to Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.

Chelsea were condemned to a 4-1 defeat by a ravaging Liverpool side that has left Mauricio Pochettino's side 10th on the league table after 22 games.

Jurgen Klopp's team started the game with intent, calling the highly impressive Djordje Petrovic in post for Chelsea into action twice before Diogo Jota danced his way through both Thiago Silva and Benoit Badiashile to open the scoring.

The host had their tails up, pinging passes from left to right and Chelsea were left chasing Shadows halfway through the first half. Ben Chilwell, starting his first league game of the year looked unfit and it was he and Raheem Sterling who were caught ball-watching when young Conor Bradley drilled home the second goal to put his side 2-0 up.

Darwin Nunez, who was tormenting the Chelsea backline missed a penalty despite Petrovic going wrong way. Dominik Szoboszlai however ensured it was 3-0 midway through the second half to underline their dominance and supremacy.

Chelsea boss Pochettino has often pointed to the injuries in his squad as one of the reasons for their slow progress and his point was made when French forward Christopher, returning to the field for the first time in a month finished brilliantly to make it 3-1 and briefly threaten a fight back.

But Luis Diaz made sure Chelsea got an absolute thumping with far post-finish after some really disappointing defending from both Silva and Badiashile again. This was a reminder of the work Pochettino has on his hands to return this club to challenging for trophies as they were second best all night.

Liverpool were simply the better side and deserved their heavy win. So from a disappointing night at Anfield, here is how we rated the Chelsea players out there.
