Chelsea player ratings and gallery: Two score 6/10 but plenty 5/10 in encouraging Manchester City defeat

Chelsea produced one of their best performance under Graham Potter despite the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Manchester City closed the gap on Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Substitute Riyad Mahrez got the all important goal after arriving late at the back post to finish off a cross from Jack Grealish who was also a substitute. Chelsea fans will be proud of the team’s effort after being the the best side in the first half of the game and limiting City to only one shot on target.

The down side to the defeat is that The Blues have now lost one, drawn one, and won one of their last three games after the World Cup and the pressure is still on manager Graham Potter to try and get the Blues back challenging for title.

They suffered a blow with often reliable midfielder Mason Mount suffering a kick in training and missing the game. Raheem Sterling who joined Chelsea from City in the summer then got injured just two minutes in the game before Christian Pulisic also picked up a knock and had to leave early.

Chelsea have now suffered four defeat in their last six Premier League and have just one win in their last eight league games. They will now travel to Manchester City for the FA Cup this weekend with fans and every one associated hoping to get past the Blues at the second time of asking.

Here is how we rated every Chelsea player who was out there today:
