Manchester City defender John Stones looks set to be out for a while after suffering an injury vs Young Boys in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Stones has been one of the foundations on which Guardiola's Manchester City has been built and his absence could play into the hands of a Chelsea side that has been boosted by their 4-1 win over previously undefeated Tottenham Hotspurs.

Suggestions are that Stones has suffered a reoccurrence of the hip concern which kept him out for a big part of the beginning of the season.

Chelsea themselves have injury concerns of their own with Enzo Fernandez a big doubt while the likes of Armando Broja and Romeo Lavia work their way back to full fitness.

Mauricio Pochettino has navigated a difficult start to the season but the win against Tottenham does feel like the start of a new campaign with the Blues now hoping to build some momentum.

Manchester City have already lost two games this season, one against Wolves and the other against Arsenal who themselves were held to a pulsating 2-2 draw by Chelsea.

Chelsea themselves have the ambition of making it back to Champions League football having finished a disappointing 12th in the league the last time out.

But they will have to go a run now having lost three and won four of their first 11 games of the league season.

The game against Manchester City is also one just before the international break and Pochettino will like to build some momemtum and confidence before the break.
