Chelsea open to 'good bid' for midfielder as Nicolas Jackson update issued

All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Chelsea as they take time off from football.

Chelsea are now taking some time off from football after a busy summer that saw them come out on top in the FIFA Club World Cup. The Blues have just a couple of friendlies on the docket due to their alternative summer schedule, but Enzo Maresca is hoping to have his men ready to go come mid-August.

There has already been recruitment from the Blues, but we expecting to see many more signings before the summer transfer window closes. Here we round up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Stamford Bridge.

Dewsbury-Hall stance

Plenty of uncertainty has surrounded the future of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, with the midfielder having struggled to reach Chelsea’s standards in his first season at the club. Dewsbury-Hall found much of his action in the Conference League, and Chelsea could strengthen the attacking midfield role to add better competition for Cole Palmer.

Matt Law has claimed that Chelsea are open to offers for Dewsbury-Hall. “If Chelsea got what they consider a good bid for Dewsbury-Hall, they would sell,” he told The London Is Blue Podcast. “At the moment I haven’t heard of a bid coming in for him.”

Jackson to Villa latest

Nicolas Jackson has been linked with a move to Aston Villa this summer as Unai Emery considers a reunion. The Blues are not said to be desperate to sell Jackson, but they are reportedly willing to sell at the right price.

In the meantime, former Villa scout Bryan King has told Villa News: “Villa are a striker short now that they no longer have Rashford. Emery knows Jackson, and he’s someone who has been drifting in and out of the Chelsea side. He may have been told that his opportunities are going to be limited and he’ll be in and out of the side again. However, Villa would maybe be prepared to put Jackson up front with Watkins.”

Caicedo praise

Former Hoffenheim and Stuttgart manager Pellegrino Matarazzo has heaped praise on Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo, who has quickly risen to be one of the best in the world in his position. “It’s just a great team and when I see (Moises) Caicedo, how he plays, oh man,” he told The Athletic. “This guy is amazing. If I had a dream team, Caicedo would definitely be a part of that. For me, he will be the best No.6 in the world.”

Chelsea boss Maresca has previously said: “He is for sure now at that level. No doubt. Unfortunately, Rodri is injured but Declan is playing. But I think Moises can sit at that table with that kind of midfielder."

Maresca said in a different address: “In this moment he is one of the best, if not the best, defensive midfielder in the world,’ enthused Maresca. He is doing fantastic. The best thing about Moi is that every day he is working serious. He is very humble, very kind, polite. He is a fantastic guy. It was another great performance.”
