Chelsea have apparently failed in their opening bid for Leicester City centre-back Wesley Fofana.

They are keen on luring the 21-year-old to Stamford Bridge after missing out on signing Jules Kounde from Sevilla to Barcelona.

However, they will have to fork out more cash if they go in with a second bid having seen their first offer turned down, with the Metro claiming they are ‘likely’ to return again.

They have let Romelu Lukaku head out the exit door back to Inter Milan in this window.

According to a report by ESPN, they are ‘stepping up’ their search for forward players and are in talks with Barcelona’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Red Bull Salzburg’s Benjamin Sesko.
