Chelsea pocket windfall

Chelsea have landed a transfer windfall from the sale of Angelo Gabriel, who never made a first team appearance for the Blues. Chelsea bought the winger in 2023 for around £13million. and have now sold him to Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr for £19.1m fee.

The Blues said in a statement: “We wish Angelo the very best as he begins the next chapter in his career and thank him for his efforts during his time with Chelsea.” The sale will help Chelsea in their bid to balance the books in relation to Profit and Sustainability rules.

Laporta on Felix

Barcelona were linked with re-signing Joao Felix this summer ahead of Chelsea striking a deal, and Barca club president Joan Laporta has now responded to questions over why a deal was not sealed.

He responded, as per Football Espana: “We are satisfied with what we have. Dani Olmo was the sporting priority and it has been achieved. We are very satisfied with Dani Olmo. The nucleus of our project is La Masia and Flick has shown it by putting grassroots players in the first team. We are excited, but we don’t want excessive euphoria to break out. You will allow me not to talk about players that are not ours. I will not comment on topics about players that we do not have in our squad.”

Gomes ‘eyed’

Tottenham are reportedly lining up a deal for former Manchester United midfielder Joao Gomes for next summer. HITC say Spurs are keen on the Lille star who recently got his first England senior call-up. As things stand, the 24-year-old is out of contract next summer and will be available to be snapped up on a pre-contract agreement fron January 1 by clubs outside of France. “Angel is probably different to what we would have seen in the past (which) would have been a central midfielder that is more robust,” England boss Lee Carsley said upon calling up Gomes. “Angel is very technical, controls the game with his skill and technique. Very determined, excellent attitude. Technically and tactically excellent, I think he’s a player that people are going to really be excited to see.”
