Nkunku on ‘resilience’

Christopher Nkunku has been speaking after a frustrating first season at Chelsea that was filled with injury. Now back to fitness and regaining form, he told L’Equipe: “I went through some very difficult stages, yes.

“I’ve learnt about my body, but also about patience and resilience. Today, I’m stronger psychologically. In sporting terms, I knew that if I was in good health, I wouldn’t have any problems.”

Colwill offer

Chelsea are said to have rejected a big offer for centre-back Levi Colwill during the summer. Colwill has been a key player for the Blues already this season, featuring in all seven of Enzo Maresca’s first seven Premier League games in charge.

According to Football.London, the Blues received a ‘huge offer’ for Colwill from a ‘top European club’ in the summer, but they rejected it, with the centre-back a key part of Maresca’s plans.

Madueke on England call-up

Chelsea winger Noni Madueke is delighted to be back with England after making his debut for his country during the last international window. He told the Chelsea website: “I’m honoured to be back in the squad. It’s always an honour to play for your country and it’s one of the best squads in the world, so it’s always an honour to be a part of it. You have to keep doing as well for your club in order for you to get called up to your country, so I’m really pleased.

“My England debut was great. First and foremost, we won the game, but assisting the second goal was special, especially assisting Harry [Kane] on that historical night for him. I was very pleased and hopefully there are more great memories in an England shirt to come.”
