Chelsea expected XI vs Real Madrid: Change of formation and Timo Werner decision made

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has his work cut out tonight against Real Madrid, but Chelsea are still in with a chance.

The Blues trail the record holders 3-1 after a breath-taking hat-trick from in-form Karim Benzema gave the Spanish side a first ever win at Stamford Bridge last week.

For Madrid, all they have to do is continue from where they left off and keep their star players clean if they are to add to their enviable Champions League record.

Painfully, former Chelsea star man Eden Hazard will be absent as he was in the first leg due to injury, while Chelsea will not be able to use the services of their record signing Romelu Lukaku, who did not travel due to injury.

The French midfielder was surprisingly quiet in the first leg, but if Chelsea are to go on and make history in the Spanish capital tonight, you suspect he will have to remind everyone why he is regarded as one of the best players of his generation.

German forward Timo Werner was in great form over the weekend, scoring a brace and hitting the post a couple of times.

But he is still likely to start the game tonight on the bench, with his runs and energy likely to cause damage when legs are tired later in the game.

So with Real Madrid having the advantage and Chelsea buoyed by their 6-0 battering of Southampton over the weekend, here is how we suspect Thomas Tuchel will set up his team tonight.
