Chelsea 'interested' in Serie A superstar amid Enzo Maresca's 'better' admission

All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Chelsea as they turn attention to Ipswich Town.

Chelsea suffered a huge blow on Boxing Day, giving up a lead and then conceding a stoppage time winner against rivals Fulham. But there is no time to dwell on the defeat, with Enzo Maresca’s men returning to action on Monday night against strugglers Ipswich Town.

A lull was expected for the Blues, but they will want to make sure it does not span more than two games after picking up just one point from their last two. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Stamford Bridge.

Martinez links

Chelsea are being linked with a move for Inter Milan and Argentina star Lautaro Martinez. Martinez is a dangerous attacker valued at more than £80million, and Inter are not likely to sell him any time soon.

According to El Grafico, Chelsea are willing to offer Benoit Badiashile, Carney Chukwuemeka and Mykhailo Mudryk in a bid to get the deal done. Though, it’s worth keeping in mind that swap deals are pretty rare, end those including four players are miracel-level rare. This one is unlikely.

Maresca on Chelsea organisation

Chelsea boss Maresca believes his side were not organised enough against the Cottagers, saying after the game: “It’s a game that for me, before you attack you need to give passes, passes, passes, because that makes us close together, and in the moment that we lose the ball we can be aggressive. But if we want to attack with one or two passes, then we are stretched, we are open, and they can hurt us. But it’s a lesson that we can learn.

“Fulham are a team that if you want to attack quick, then they will attack quick, and it becomes a basketball game. That’s not for us, we need to control it better. If there was something I didn’t like, for sure it was the result, but the other thing is that at some moments we could manage the game much better. For sure one of the things we could have done better was the game management, but also I think we did many good things.”
