Tammy Abraham’s exceptional form for Roma this season has caught the attention of many who previously watched him struggle for game time with Chelsea.

The striker was sold to the Serie A club for £34 million last summer and has since notched 23 goals in 40 appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side - most recently bagging a brace against Lazio in the Derby Capitolino.

Social media was full of praise for Abraham, with his England and former Chelsea teammate Reece James heaping praise on his fellow Blues academy product.

Following Roma’s 3-0 win over Lazio, James posted a photo of Abraham on his Instagram story with the captain: “Numbers don’t lie. Pay some respect please.”

The pair were together at Chelsea for over 15 years before Abraham moved to Italy and have recently been reunited with the striker’s brilliant form earning him a call-up to the England squad - although it is thought James may be forced to withdraw due to injury.

Abraham missed out on last year’s Euro squad but featured during November’s international friendlies - scoring in the Three Lions’ most recent fixture against San Marino.

Given Romelu Lukaku’s disappointing return to Stamford Bridge, fans could be regretting letting Abraham go, however Roma confirmed last month that the Blues have a buy-back clause in his contract and could bring him back in 2023 if his brilliant form continues.
