Chelsea consider taking advantage of financial issues to snatch Arsenal striker target

Chelsea re being linked with a striker deal as the end of the window comes into focus.

Chelsea are being linked with a move for another high-profile striker as they look to add depth at the top end of the pitch. The Blues are back to winning ways, defeating Wolves on Monday night to end a run of five league games without a win, returning to the top four in the process.

Enzo Maresca has remained coy over Chelsea’s situation as it relates to new signings, with the Blues only expected to spring into action if the right opportunity presents itself. Exits are the priority for now, with a handful of unwanted players expected to leave the club, starting with Cesare Casadei, while Carney Chukwuemeka, Ben Chilwell and Renato Veiga are also being linked with exits.

If Chelsea do bring in a player, it’s likely to be a centre-back, winger or, if a top opportunity arises, a striker. Christopher Nkunku could yet depart, and Nicolas Jackson needs competition at the top end of the pitch. One player being linked is Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, who seems to have been linked with an exit since the moment he arrived at Juve.

The Old Lady have had financial issues over recent times, and Vlahovic is an obvious remedy given they can likely make at least £60million on the sale, although they did sign him from Fiorentina for £65million, so they would likely look to make that money back. Nkunku, meanwhile, has a reported asking price of £65million himself.

The Times report that Juve may be open to selling Vlahovic due to those financial concerns, and that Chelsea are currently more likely to make a move than Arsenal. That’s despite the fact Fabrizio Romano has reported that the striker isn’t someone the Blues are considering.

Vlahovic has scored 53 goals in 125 appearances since arriving at Juventus, and it does feel as though his time with the Italian giants will come to an end at some point in the next six months. Arsenal have been heavily linked, but it’s not yet clear how much they are willing to spend to fix their striker problem this month.
