Chelsea co-owners to attend Carabao Cup final vs Liverpool as rift talks are cooled

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly hasn't been at Stamford Bridge since January but he'll be at Wembley for the League Cup final.

Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali will be seen together for the first time since the Premier League win against Fulham back in January. The Evening Standard is reporting that Boehly took a step back from football operations recently but he will be at Wembley for the League final.

There had been reports that the pair were not on good terms and Boehly's absence from Stamford Bridge further fuelled those speculations but they will be sitting together for the first time in months as they seek their first trophy since taking over Chelsea in May 2022.

When Clearlake Capital first took over Chelsea, Boehly was fronting all the footballing operations but they have since left it to sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart. Chelsea under former owner Roman Abramovich developed an appetite for winning big trophies and winning the League Cup against Liverpool this weekend will be seen as a massive step in their new project.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has struggled to get a fine tune from the squad in the league but the Cup games could be golden, especially having gained the tendency to be able to show up and excel in one-off games.

They beat Aston Villa impressively before coming from behind to win against Crystal Palace, but their most encouraging performance was against Manchester City where they were the best team for large parts and were unlucky not to take all three points.

Liverpool though have a unique motivation going into the final with the squad determined to win a trophy for manager Jurgen Klopp who is leaving his role after this season.
