Paul Scholes finds flaw in Chelsea star despite 'world class' 9/10 Liverpool performance
Moises Caicedo put in a purring performance against Liverpool but the Manchester United legend feels there is room for improvement.
Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo put in one of his best ever showings in a Chelsea shirt during the 2-1 win over Liverpool on Saturday evening.

The Ecuador international scored a brilliant strike to put the Blues ahead in the first half and dictated play in midfield as Enzo Maresca’s side went on to grab a late winner. Caicedo’s performance earned widespread praise and a 9/10 score from LondonWorld.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp labelled Caicedo as ‘world class’ when speaking on the Stamford Bridge after full-time, praising his recent turn in goalscoring form. The strike against Chelsea was Caicedo’s third of the season, having scored four across his previous 119 top flight outings.
Moises Caicedo proves ‘world class’ status against Liverpool
Redknapp said: “It’s taken him time to adjust to what Chelsea want. At Brighton, you knew what he was capable of and now you’re seeing one of the best in the world. He’s in the conversation with Rodri, who I absolutely love. People talk about Gravenberch, those three are as good as anything in world football.
“He possesses so many good attributes. When he hasn’t got the ball, he’s incredible, so hard to play against, he’s all over you like a rash. He can pass the ball easily off one foot, he can play off either side and around the corner. There’s nothing he can’t do. He hasn’t got a weakness in his game. I think that’s a credit to the manager but also to him - everything I hear about him, he’s a top quality guy and sets an example in training every game.
“There’s no doubt at all, he’s a world class player and still a very young man. He needs to keep doing what he’s doing. There’s nothing he’s not capable of. He’s such a leader and sets an example every day. He deserves it. He’s a wonderful player and today he’s shown that. We’re talking about one of the best in the world.”
The performance against Liverpool has prompted debate over who is the best central midfielder in the division. Where Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher were stuck between Caicedo or Arsenal man Declan Rice, Scholes has gone for another option.
Paul Scholes finds fault with Chelsea midfielder
The former Manchester United man picked Sandro Tonali and, in reasoning why, suggested that Caicedo was still missing an aspect from his play. He told The Overlap: “I still don’t class Moises Caicedo as an all-round midfield player. I know he scored a great goal and was brilliant the other day.
“I got some stick last year after having a go at him and I almost thought about taking that back because he was brilliant in the Club World Cup. I just prefer the controlling type of midfield players who play with a bit more style and can score goals a bit more often than Caicedo.
“It was a brilliant goal against Liverpool but you wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t do that again for another 18 months would you? He’s one of the best at what he does which is breaking up the play, he’s brilliant at that. But I prefer the other types.
“Alexis Mac Allister was absolutely brilliant last season, he controlled a lot of games and I think Liverpool are missing that at the moment. I love Sandro Tonali as well. He’s been brilliant. Very good. I would probably choose Tonali at this point.”
