Brighton and Hove Albion legend Bruno Saltor has left an emotional message for fans after joining Graham Potter at Chelsea last week.

Bruno is absolutely adored by Albion fans and has always associated his career to the Seagulls, but all that has come crumbling down after he left with manager Graham Potter to Chelsea.

In an astonishing career with the Seagulls, Bruno played 235 times for the Sussex side before bringing everything to a close.

He then joined the coaching staff in 2019, where he used his connection with the club and experience gathered through more than 200 matches for the club to good use.

At a time when Brighton looked like they were going from Strength to strength and the club sitting in the top four of the table, he alongside Potter, assistant Billy Reid, first-team coach Bjorn Hamberg, goalkeeping coach Ben Roberts and assistant head of recruitment Kyle Macaulay all swapped Brighton for London.

Bruno’s departure has particularly been a tough blow to Brighton fans who expected him to not jump on the bandwagon and leave with the rest, but he has since left them a message showing his appreciation and explaining the reason for the move.

He posted on his Instagram page: “I don’t know where to start, I don’t know what to say. I’m heartbroken, probably like some of you.

“I have the same feeling that I had when I left home at 14 to chase my dream. Sure about my decision but broken inside.

“What you, players, staff at the Amex, staff at the training ground, fans, and community have given me it’s unforgettable.

“Thank you. What these 10 years have shown me it’s that truly football it’s more than 90 minutes. Of all the unimportant things, football it’s the most important.

“I’ve given my heart and soul for this club and I would like to think that I have helped to leave Brighton and Hove Albion in a better place when I arrived.

“There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are you will always be in my heart. Your amigo, Bruno.”

The new backroom staff will get the opportunity to try win the love of the Chelsea fans and impress their new employers when they take on RB Salzburg in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
