Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino reveals how owners responded to harrowing Wolves defeat

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has revealed what was said to him in the wake of their defeat against Wolves at the weekend.

Chelsea head coach has received words of encouragement from Todd Boehly and the board of directors after his team slumped to a dismal 4-2 defeat against Wolves at the weekend. Some predicted he may lose his job after the game, where Chelsea were comprehensively outplayed - now, however, it seems that this will not be the case.

While it seems Pochettino has the backing of the Chelsea board, the same could not be said for many Blues fans after their game against Wolves. Matheus Cunha ran rampant as their defence parted time and time again - he scored a hat-trick, with Wolves' other goal coming by the way of an Axel Disasi own goal. Meanwhile, the Blues' goals were netted by standout star Cole Palmer and veteran defender Thiago Silva.

In the press conference regarding his future, Pochettino said [via Fabrizio Romano on X]:"We need to keep going, we cannot lose focus after two defeats The fans need to be patient. We need to find a way to succeed. We need the support, of course, we are demanding the support to the team, players. I know the quality of the players. It takes time to build a team. It's the reality.

"I’m disappointed with the way that we performed as it wasn't the plan, the way we wanted to compete. We are altogether in this. That is the most important. They are in contact with me, everyday I received a very good text after the game against Wolves from the owners. We’re all together in this! "I told the players today in the meeting that I trust in you more than ever. I will support you more than ever. I am not a normal boss, I am the leader I need to reflect in every action that I really trust."
