Chelsea produced a brilliant performance to beat Aston Villa 3-1 and seal progression to the fifth round of the FA Cup. Conor Gallagher, Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez all netted to secure a much-needed win. This result and performance is the kind that could serve as a turning point to their season.
Villa were massive favourites coming into the game but it was Chelsea who wanted it more and deserved everything they got here. This was one of the best 45 minutes of football if not the absolute best Chelsea have had.
Gallagher who celebrated his 24th birthday on Monday scored his first goal of the season to silence Villa Park. Tactically manager Mauricio Pochettino had everything spot on with full-backs inverting and Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo taking charge of everything.
Nicolas Jackson, starting his first game of the year for the Blues then added the second goal to give his side the breather they needed. Villa Park had been an impregnable fortress for many but today, they lacked a spark and had nothing to sing about.
Chelsea had energy, desire, and fight and were unleashing their fury of what had been a tough week for them here. Enzo Fernandez, the Argentine World Cup winner picked his time and spot with an unstoppable free kick to make it 3-0.
Most of the talk around Chelsea's season has been around them being a young side, but here, Pochettino dropped his most experienced duo Raheem Sterling and Thiago Silva and trusted the likes of Axel Disasi and Noni Madueke who delivered spectacularly for him.
The game was home and dry by the 70th minute, and even though Moussa Diaby scored deep into extra-time, it only served as consolation. Here is how we rated the players out there today.

He didn't have a lot to do in the first half and again responded well when called on.
2. Moises Caicedo-7
Sprinting, tackling and passing well. When played in the right position is some player.
3. Cole Palmer-6
Had a brilliant shot saved by Martinez in the first half. He wasn't spectacular but worked so hard.
4. Ben Chilwell
Terrific and forceful in that first half where everyone was good. A lot of energy and he was willing to use it.
