Chelsea and Tottenham 'ready to battle' Man Utd for £33.7m defensive transfer in January
Chelsea and Tottenham are said to be identified a full-back as a target ahead of January.
Chelsea and Tottenham are both said to be interested in an up and coming right-back ahead of the January transfer window. Both teams enjoyed a strong summer window that saw plenty of money spent across London, and indeed the Premier League.

Though, the planning never stops, and clubs are constantly scouting to find possible new signings ahead of the next window. One position both Chelsea and Tottenham could do with strengthening is right-back. Spurs don’t have much natural depth there, although Archie Gray can cover there having played almost a whole season in the position for Leeds United last term.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have Malo Gusto as their main starter and Reece James, although James just can’t seem to stay fit, and there will be questions over how sustainable it is to keep faith with him if such issues continue. That is perhaps why Chelsea are said to be interested in a deal to sign Monaco full-back Vanderson.
Vanderson was linked with a move to Spurs in the summer, but a deal didn’t materialise. The 23-year-old Brazilian has already racked up 71 league appearances for Monaco since arriving from Gremio in 2021. CaughtOffside report that both Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham are all showing an interest ahead of the window, all ready to battle for the deal.
Monaco are said to want between £29.5million and £33.7million to agree a sale, with the defender under contract until 2028. He joined the club for around £9million.
Failed Brentford move
Interestingly, ahead of joining Monaco, Vanderson was on course to join Brentford. He has previously revealed: “After Grêmio’s relegation to Serie B, I knew I was going to leave. The club and my parents spoke with Brentford. We had said yes, but Monaco came in with a more interesting and ambitious project for me, and also for Grêmio. So we opted for ASM, a club where young players can express themselves.”
The full-back has always spoken in glowing terms about Monaco, but he seems to be outgrowing the French giants, and a move to the Premier League could be on the horizon.
