Chelsea vs AFC Bournemouth injury news as 13 ruled out and 1 doubt
A look at the latest injury news surrounding Chelsea and AFC Bournemouth as they prepare to face off in the Premier League.
Chelsea are back in action on Tuesday night when they face a tricky Bournemouth side, hoping to turn their recent fortunes following a disappointing festive period. The Blues took care of business in the FA Cup on Saturday, defeating Morecambe, although players were rested for that one.
The Blues now face a Cherries side as high as seventh in the table, hoping to protect their top four spot for another week. Here we round up all the latest injury news surrounding both teams ahead of the Stamford Bridge clash.
Evanilson - Out
Evanilson will remain out with a broken metatarsal.
Marcos Senaso Baron - Out
Andoni Iraola has said: “Marcos' injury is a surgery. When you have a muscle injury, and they take the decision to go to the surgeon, it’s because it’s a big one. It’s his quad, but in the end 3-4 months normally is what it takes... it’s difficult to be less than this.”
Julian Araujo - Out
Iraola said of Araujo;’s hamstring issue: “The results of an MRI scan determined surgery would be the best course of action. The club's performance and medicine staff will now support Julian through a comprehensive rehab process over the coming months.”
Alex Scott - Out
Scott is expected to remain out until later this month. Iraola has said: “He trained [after Arsenal], but after training, he was feeling pain. He went [for] the MRI, and we could see a meniscus [tear]. The doctors decided [it] could be repaired. [It will be] definitely more than six weeks, but I don’t know how much.”
Adam Smith - Out
Smith is not expected to be involved. Iraola has said: “I don't have exactly when he will come back. It's true that we have some players already going outside and training [on] their own. Like Adam (Smith), (Marcus) Tavernier], (Luis) Sinisterra.”
Luis Sinisterra - Out
The same applies as above for Sinisterra.
Marcus Tavernier - Out
Tavernier is also included in that Iraola update.
Enes Unal - Out
Unal has suffered a serious knee injury that will require surgery.
Wesley Fofana - Out
Fofana will be fortunate to play another game this season, with Enzo Maresca saying: “With Wes, we don’t know exactly how long he could be out for, but he has a hamstring injury, and unfortunately, we are going to lose him for a while. He could be out for the season, yes.”
Benoit Badiashile - Out
Badiashile has a hamstring injury, with Maresca saying: “Benoit will be out at least until February.”
Noni Madueke - Doubt
Madueke has been struggling with illness, but he may well be in contention here.
Mykhaylo Mudryk - Out (Suspended)
Mudryk is provisionally suspended due to allegations of performance enhancing drug consumption.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall - Out
Maresca said last week: “Keirnan is still injured, so he won’t be involved.” It’s likely that still applies given the quick turnaround.
Omari Kellyman - Out
Kellyman is still out with a hamstring injury. There is no news on his return.
