Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is reportedly wanted back by Inter Milan this summer. The Belgium international, who has 108 caps under his belt for his country to date, is facing an uncertain long-term future at Stamford Bridge.

According to Italian news outlet CalcioMercato, Simone Inzaghi is ‘thinking’ about bringing the experienced forward back to San Siro in this transfer window in some capacity. He has now returned to his parent club and they have a big decision to make on what to do with him next.

Chelsea gave Lukaku the green light to join Inter on a temporary basis last June after he fell down the pecking order. He went on to make 37 appearances in all competitions last season and scored 14 goals.

He helped his loan side reach the Champions League final. However, they lost to Manchester City in the final in Istanbul and he missed a couple of chances in the game as well.

Nevertheless, that hasn’t deterred Inter from wanting to potentially snap him up again. After all, he is a proven goal scorer in the game and has found the net 280 times in 589 games in his career to date.

The 30-year-old has previously played for the likes of Anderlecht, West Bromwich Albion, Everton and Manchester United in the past. Chelsea had him from 2011 to 2014 as a youngster before re-signing him in 2021.

Mauricio Pochettino has arrived recently and the former Tottenham Hotspur boss needs to decide whether Lukaku is in his plans or whether he wants him to depart. He remains under contract until 2026 meaning he still has a good few years left to run with the London outfit. His time with the Blues hasn’t worked out and a switch to Inter seems a sensible move that suits both parties.
