Former AC Milan midfielder Kaka heaped praise on Chelsea after their Champions League victory on Wednesday.

Chelsea hosted the Italian giants midweek in Graham Potter’s third match in charge and put on a stellar performance, with Wesley Fofana, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Reece James earning three points for the home side.

Kaka, who scored 104 goals in 307 appearances for AC Milan, was critical of his former club and claimed that Chelsea deserved the win.

Speaking to beIN SPORTS, Kaka said: “Chelsea deserved that result. I think they have a very consistent game they controlled the game the whole time.

“They didn’t create many opportunities but they took advantage of the opportunities they they had.

“No actions, a bad result and only one chance at the end of the first chance with leao and part of that not much more. for me there wasn’t a connection between midfield and attack, also because of that we saw poor game of Giroud because he didn’t see many balls from the game.  ‘If Milan wants to have a good Champions League there is another game against Chelsea again then Clasico against Juve on the weekend so it’s important ten days for Milan.”

Despite failing to win in their first two group matches, the Blues now sit second in Group E - above AC Milan on goal difference.

Next week’s second meeting at the San Siro could be a six-pointer for both clubs, with the Italians likely to need a win if they are to finish above the Premier League side.
