Benoit Badiashile makes brutally honest Thiago Silva exit claim as Fluminense return is confirmed

Thiago Silva will return to Fluminense, where he started his career after agreeing a two-year deal with the Brazilian club.

Benoit Badiashile says he will miss ‘great defender’ Thiago Silva because he feels very confident when playing with the Brazilian. Chelsea decided against offering the 39-year-old a new deal but he leaves with the blessing of everyone after winning the Champions League, Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.

Badiashile who has recovered from injury and hoping for a strong end to a challenging campaign was emotional when speaking to LondonWorld about the importance of Thiago who will now likely be handed the captain’s armband for the last game of the season at Stamford Bridge against Bournemouth.

He said after the win against West Ham: “Thiago is a great player and we all know how great he is. It will be a great miss for us but we have to continue to work.

“That’s life, we have to continue. You can see when I play with him, I am more confident but I have to try to be the same player without him because he can’t be with me throughout my career.

“He has helped me a lot but I will try to do my best without him.”

Stamford Bridge to honour Silva on final day

The Brazilian has played in 151 games for the Blues since arriving at the club in 2020 as a free agent. He's scored nine goals and inked his name as one of the best free signings at the club. LondonWorld has been told a fan-funded banner will be displayed at the Shed End during the game and most will stay behind to say a proper goodbye to a servant who has distinguished himself.

Chelsea can still secure Europa League football having found form in the last two months. They also reached the League Cup final and FA Cup semi-final where they lost to Manchester City.
