Tottenham defender Ben Davies admits beating West Ham and returning to fourth on the league table is the best preparation ahead of their feisty London derby against Chelsea next week.

The Lillywhites put behind them a difficult week where they lost to Liecester and AC Milan by beating West Ham 2-0 thanks to goals from Emerson Royal and substitute Son Heung-min.

A win against Chelsea next week will almost end any chance the Blues could secure Champions League football next season.

“Especially after the game against Leicester, picking up the three points where we feel like we can is important,” the Wales defender told LondonWorld.com

“Today, like you said, I think it was good preparation going into Chelsea, hopefully we can get another good result here.”

The win over West Ham also means that Tottenham assistant manager  Cristian Stellini has maintained his 100% winning streak whenever he’s been asked to step in for Antonion Conte.

He won three games when Conte was unavailable at Inter Milan and he’s won all three that the Italian has been away at Tottenham.

But defender Davies says everyone in the team is pulling in the same direction and it won’t be long now before their Italian manager is back in the dugout.

He added: “Yes, it was hard to speak on the phone to everybody in the dressing room, but Cristian relaid his message.

“And it will be a case of the next couple of days looking at it, and going over the game and seeing, again, where we can improve and what we can do better.

“Cristian has really asked of us, that the boys with the experience have to do their bit. It’s not easy when you don’t have your manager here, but Cristian and the manager have really drilled into us that if Cristian speaks, that’s the manager’s voice as well.

“So we’ve been working hard, we’ve given it our all, and we’re very happy with the result today for both of them.”
