Tom Bischof is back for the Bundesliga outfit after having surgery on his appendix. He came off the bench against Hamburg last time out. They won 5-0 against the top flight new boys.

Chelsea injury news

Chelsea won’t see new boy Dario Essugo until early 2026 due to a thigh issue. They released a statement last week reading: “Midfielder Dario Essugo has undergone successful surgery today on his thigh. The 20-year-old sustained the injury whilst on international duty for Portugal's Under-21s. Medical assessments confirmed surgery would be the required course of action and Dario will now begin his recovery at Cobham, supported by the club's medical department.”

Striker Liam Delap has a hamstring injury and picked it up against Fulham last month. He joined over the summer from Ipswich Town. It remains to be seen exactly when he will be fit again. Elsewhere, Romeo Lavia and Benoit Badiashile are also in the treatment room still and will miss the Bayern game.

Palmer and Alejandro Garnacho featured against Brentford which was a boost. The latter was snapped up in the last window to boost their attacking department. He left Manchester United to move to Stamford Bridge.

Speaking after their draw with the Bees, Maresca said: “For sure we were much better in the second half. For different reasons we struggled in the first half. In the second half we scored twice, we could have scored more. Unfortunately we lost two points in the last three minutes.

“I think we did enough to win the game. In the second half we scored twice, we could have scored two or three more goals. There was the Cole chance, the Pedro [Neto] chance. So I think we did enough. Unfortunately we lost two points just in the last three minutes.”

He added: “For sure in the moment that we scored the second goal we have to manage better. We scored in the 86th minute and in that moment you need to give passes, you need to slow down, you need to send the game to sleep a little bit. It’s something that we didn’t do and it’s something that we need to improve on and we need to learn.”
