Former Southampton and Luton Town manager Nathan Jones is expected to be in attendance at The Valley to watch the Addicks' League One meeting with Derby County on Saturday afternoon ahead of taking charge of the side.

Charlton Athletic parted ways with former coach Michael Appleton last week after a string of poor results and are yet to announce a new appointment with Curtis Fleming taking charge as interim head coach. South London Press reports that the club has reached an agreement with Jones, who is expected to be at The Valley today.

The Welshman was set to be announced by Charlton Athletic on Saturday but delays in paperwork mean that official confirmation may not happen today. Jones' stint at Southampton lasted just eight matches but the coach enjoyed success with Luton Town previously, taking the side from League Two to League One as they began their rise up the leagues.

Writing in today's programme, Fleming said: "I'd like to thank everyone for their support of me, the coaching staff and the players since I stepped in as Interim Head Coach. I've had some really nice messages and have been grateful for the support I've had internally and externally in the role to date.

"There has been a lot of speculation about a new head coach and we've had the transfer window closing on Thursday too. My job has been to keep the players fully focused on this weekend. There has been a good spirit about the place at Sparrows Lane and everyone comes into today's game with a focus."

Fleming has made just two changes to his side that faced Blackpool last weekend as George Dobson is unavailable for the first time this season due to a 'tight calf'. Tayo Edun and Conor Coventry return to the starting XI with new signing Kayne Ramsey on the bench.
