FA Cup draw: AFC Wimbledon, Charlton Athletic, AFC Wrexham & more learn opponents

AFC Wimbledon will travel to MK Dons in the headline tie following the first-round draw for the 2024-25 FA Cup. The two sides will face of in an all-League Two clash with the pair having already met this season in a league game Wimbledon won 3-0.

Sutton United have been handed a tough draw as they host League One leaders Birmingham City while AFC Wrexham travel to League Two side Harrogate Town. Charlton Athletic are also on their travels as they make the trip to Southend United. All ties will be played between Friday, November 1 and Monday, November 4.

The draw was held at Bradford City, with all 48 clubs from League One and League Two entering the draw alongside the 32 teams who had made it into the first round via the various qualifying rounds. The draw took place in Bradford due to the city’s links with the FA Cup. The first FA Cup final was played in 1872 but the original trophy was stolen from a Birmingham shop window in 1895 after Aston Villa had beaten West Bromwich Albion 1-0 in the final.

A replica was used for 15 years until a new design was created by Bradford-based jewellers Fattorini and Sons and hallmarked in Sheffield for the 1911 final, which was incredibly won by Bradford City as they beat Newcastle United 1-0. That version of the FA Cup was used up until 1993. Clubs who win their first-round ties will earn £45,000 in prize money while £15,000 will go to losing sides.
