Charlton Athletic boost as Portsmouth handed injury blow as Millwall boss reacts to offside call - round-up
Millwall and Charlton Athletic feature in your Saturday Championship round-up after the Boxing Day action in the second tier.
Charlton Athletic are set to face a Portsmouth outfit without the influential Josh Murphy on Monday night as Nathan Jones’ side look to bounce back from a 1-0 defeat to Norwich City.

A suspended Nathan Jones was forced to watch on from the stands at Carrow Road but will be back in the dugout at Fratton Park. Portsmouth go into that match following a 1-1 draw with QPR on Boxing Day.
Pompey sit five points and four places behind the 18th-placed Addicks in the Championship table. Speaking after the fixture against QPR, Portsmouth boss John Mousinho provided an injury update which will be good news for Charlton Athletic.
Portsmouth managing injury blow ahead of Charlton Athletic
Portsmouth will be without winger Josh Murphy next week. The 30-year-old was absent against QPR and Mousinho confirmed that a hamstring injury will keep him out against Charlton Athletic.
He told The News: “Josh is okay but was feeling that hamstring still and was touch and go. Hopefully it will be a week or two and we will see him back in action.”
Murphy is a big loss for Portsmouth. The former Premier League star has four assists in his last seven league appearances. Pompey could, however,F welcome back defender Conor Shaughnessy on Monday after sitting out three months of action with a hamstring issue.
Alex Neil reacts to Millwall offside call against Ipswich Town
Meanwhile, Millwall picked up a point against promotion-chasing Ipswich Town at The Den on Boxing Day, putting in an organised performance to play out a 0-0 draw against the Tractor Boys.
It had looked as if the Lions won the match late on when Camiel Neghli latched onto a through ball and slotted home having rounded Ipswich Town goalkeeper Christian Walton. However, the goal was chalked off for offside in a tight call.
Giving his take on the decision after full-time, Millwall head coach Alex Neil said: “He was probably half a step offside when it happens.”
The Lions boss was pleased overall with his side’s efforts against Ipswich Town. He added: “I was quite pleased. We knew Ipswich were going to be a strong side.
"First half, when it came to the final third areas, I thought we had better moments in the first half than they did. We had two or three moments – Caleb has a good header, the keeper palms it onto the bar. Camiel Neghli gets down the side, needs to find a better cutback.”
