League One players with four yellow cards this season are just one booking away from a one-match ban.

Charlton Athletic will have midfielder Conor Coventry available again for the trip to Barnsley on Tuesday night after the 24-year-old sat out a one match ban against Stockport County last time out.

Now 11 fixtures into the season, several League One players are on the edge of suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards. EFL rules stipulate that any player who picks up five yellows before the 19th fixture of the campaign will be handed a one match ban.

Just as Coventry returns for Nathan Jones, the Addicks risk seeing another midfielder sidelined for that crime. Should Luke Berry be shown a yellow card against Barnsley tonight, he will be unavailable for the visit of Wrexham to The Valley this weekend.

The 32-year-old, who signed for Charlton Athletic this summer as a free agent, has played in every league match of the season so far. Berry hasn't been booked since the 1-0 defeat to Stevenage last month but that, combined with three yellow cards in August, makes a ban before the season's halfway point look inevitable.

Coventry's suspension last week did afford Terry Taylor the chance to make an impression in the first team. The former Burton Albion man earned Jones' praise for his role in the draw against Stockport.

The Charlton Athletic manager said: “He was excellent. I left him on when I was taking others off. He was really fluent. He got on the ball, he dictated play against two good midfield players. He was excellent.

“He just ran out of legs at the end. He probably made one bad decision at the end where he played it short and could have put it in but apart from that he was impeccable."

Leyton Orient also have a player who is one booking away from suspension in Thomas James. The defender has played in eight of the O's 11 league games this term, with bookings against Charlton Athletic, Reading, Stockport and Northampton Town.
