Thomas Frank has been very shrewd in the transfer market, and the likes of Yoane Wissa from Lorient last season played a key role in the 13th-placed finish.

Then there was also the addition of Frank Onyeka, who was picked up from Midtjylland, and started brightly at Brentford before injuries limited his impact.

The board will try again to bring in players who fit their profile and keep the wage structure in check while preserving Premier League football.

So with the transfer window now officially open, these are the players that have been linked with a move to the Brentford Community Stadium.

Milan Djuric

Brentford are in the market for a forward who will compete with Ivan Toney, and Milan Djuric has been mentioned in some reports in England and Italy.

The Bosnian forward is built like Eden Dzeko, and even though he is already 32-years-old he is not new to English football, having spent 18 months on loan with Bristol City before returning to  Salernitana.

Newly-promoted Nottingham Forest are also interested, but Brentford are in pole position to land his signature.

He is the kind of striker who can make a difference with good hold-up play and he’s looking for an opportunity to make a claim for himself in the Premier League.

The midfielder has a good claim as one of the best signings of the season, with his four goals and an assist.

His overall play was sensational and he lifted everyone at the club, even the non-playing staff felt his impact.

The downside to his impression is that a lot of more clubs are interested in his services, that have bigger financial muscles than the Bees.

It’s a decision between loyalty - with Brentford offering Eriksen a contract after his cardiac arrest when others wouldn’t - and ambition, with Champions League clubs interested.

Another player the Bees are reported to have made an offer for is Bologna’s versatile full back as they look to bolster their defence.

According to the Telegraph, Bologna value him around £21.3million even though the figure can be negotiated and paid in instalments.

The Scot is highly rated and with clubs circling, Brentford will hope to get the deal done before any complications.
