Newcastle United vs Brentford early injury news as 5 ruled out and 6 doubts
All the early injury news surrounding Brentford and Newcastle United as their Premier League clash approaches.
Brentford are now within a week of their trip to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United. The Bees are currently 11th and still in with a shot of securing European football this season, while the Magpies are in the thick of the top four race.

Both sides will be well-rested after the international break and the the extra weekend break thanks to their elimination from the FA Cup, but there are still plenty of injuries. Here we round up the injury latest surrounding both clubs.
Lewis Hall - Out
Hall’s season is over after he required ankle surgery. Hall said after the surgery: “Surgery was a success, and now it's time to rest, recover and support the boys.”
Sven Botman - Out
Botman is going to be out until May. Howe has said previously: “He was actually very close for Brighton, just the day before in training, he felt the same problem in his knee. So, looks like he'll now have to have a small op just to clear out some fluid. We hope he should be back in about eight weeks.”
Jamaal Lascelles - Out
Lascelles is on a similar timeframe, with Howe explaining: “He is making good progress. He is back out on the grass but not training with the team yet. I would say he is really happy currently - he is super lean and super fit. He is now entering the last stage of his recovery, and hopefully we will see him soon.”
Anthony Gordon - Doubt
Gordon is expected to miss out here having dropped out of the England squad, but he will go down as a doubt until he is ruled out. England boss Thomas Tuchel explained: “It’s just a matter of pain. He has a huge bruise around the hip region, and it was so painful he couldn’t even walk properly. He needs some time to heal and to get better. That’s why he left camp.”
Fabio Carvalho - Out
Frank has already ruled out Carvalho for much of the season. He said: “[Carvalho] is a longer one. A quick and good recovery could keep the return to play time down, so he could be back just before the end of the season.”
Josh DaSilva - Doubt
DaSilva is due back from his knee injury but it’s not clear when he will get back. Frank’s last comments on DaSilva was back in September when he said: “Josh (Dasilva) is further down the line. Rico (Henry) is progressing, but it's still not like he will play next week.”
Aaron Hickey - Doubt
Hickey has a chance of returning here, with Frank having said before the break: “[Aaron] will not be involved in this game or the next one... We are looking at after the international break. We need to take it step by step. With him, and Rico [Henry], we need to build the robustness.”
Michael Kayode - Doubt
Kayode also has a chance of returning here, with Frank saying: “[Kayode] is just a little bit after Sepp, so he is unlikely to be involved. I expect him to be available for Newcastle.”
Igor Thiago - Doubt
Thiago had a pretty serious injury, so his recovery has been a slow one, though he will be back in the coming weeks. Frank said back in February: “He is planned to start running next week. That means he's a bit away. I don’t know [when he’ll be back].” He will go down as a doubt until there is a clearer picture of his return.
Rico Henry - Doubt
Henry has been working towards fitness after an injury, so he will remain a doubt.
Gustavo Nunes - Out
Nunes is a long-term absentee, with Frank having said in January: “He is not on the grass, so it will take him a bit longer before he's back. I don't know the exact timeframe, if I'm honest.”
