Brentford have reportedly decided to keep hold of Halil Dervisoglu for the time being.

The attacker has played twice so far this season for the London club, once in the Premier League and once in the Carabao Cup.

He has been on the radar of Championship side Hull City and the Tigers were hoping to sign him before the end of the transfer window.

However, the Bees have opted to retain his services for now, as detailed in a report by Hull Live.

Still in Brentford’s plans?

Brentford have boosted their attacking department this summer by bringing in Keane Lewis-Potter and Mikkel Damsgaard.

Dervisoglu, 22, provides Thomas Frank’s side with competition and depth in forward areas but isn’t guaranteed regular game time with the top flight outfit.

He has only played 12 competitive games for them since 2020 from Sparta Rotterdam and has been loaned out to FC Twente and Galatasaray to get game time.

A move to Hull would have made sense for him as they are the home to his Turkey international teammates Ozan Tufan and Dogukan Sinik.

However, their boss, Shota Arveladze, has provided this update:

“Halil, no. I don’t think so. I don’t think it ends with him coming here.”

Dervisoglu wasn’t on the bench yesterday as the Bees drew 1-1 at home to Everton.

Other news

Brentford’s Paris Maghoma, who is on loan at AFC Wimbledon, was sent off for the League Two side after the final whistle yesterday.

The Dons lost 1-0 at home to Barrow and the 21-year-old picked up a yellow card. His manager, Johnnie Jackson, explained what happened, as per a report by London News Online:

“He’s said something to the referee, which the referee didn’t like. We will have to wait for the report, speak to the lad and see what was said.”
