Brentford are being linked with a summer move for Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno. He has caught the eye over in Serie A this season.

According to Tuttosport (via Toro News), the Bees ‘like’ the Turin-born man ahead of the next transfer window. Fellow Premier League sides Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth have also been credited with an interest so there will be competition for his signature.

Brentford could see the former Italy youth international as someone to give them more competition and depth at the back. At the age of 23, he has the potential to grow and develop at the Gtech Community Stadium in the future.

Buongiorno has been on the books at Torino for his whole career to date and has made 72 appearances for their first-team in all competitions, 33 of which have come in this campaign. He has also had loan spells away in the past at Serie B pair Carpi and Trapani to gain experience.

His current club are 8th in the table right now but are too far off a European place now. They could face a battle to keep hold of one of their most prized assets in the near future now amid reported interest from England.

In other Brentford news, they will be cutting ties with attacker Saman Ghoddos at the end of this season. Frank has said: “Saman has been a pleasure to work with. He was part of the group that gained promotion to the Premier League and has been a valuable member of the squad during the following two seasons.

“Whenever he has been called upon, and wherever he has been asked to play, Saman has never let us down. He is a top professional and a top person.”
