Nissen Kristensen, already a star in Denmark and recently linked with a move to Dortmund, is said to prefer the Premier League to the Bundesliga and would love to join the ever-improving Bees.

Fellow Dane Thomas Frank often uses his contacts in his home country within the transfer market, as seen with the signing of Christian Eriksen.

Alongside the former Spurs star, there are six other Danes in the current Brentford squad - and this could be attractive to Nissen Kristensen.

The project at Dortmund has been sold to him as the ideal step to continue his development, but having played at Ajax in the past before moving to Austria, the full-back now feels the Premier League is the natural step to take.

In January, West Ham and David Moyes had made contact with him with a view to bring him to the Premier League, but the move has died down with the growth of home grown talent Ben Johnson.

The Hammers have more pressing issues having tailed off badly at the end of the season and will look to bring in a striker and a few midfielders to add both quality and quantity to the squad as they look to combine playing in the Europa Conference League and the Premier League.

Rasmus Nissen Kristensen’s short rise

The right back is already a Danish international with four caps and spent a season with Ajax before moving to Austria, where he has established himself as one of the most exciting full backs in the league.

Since moving to RB Salzburg, Rasmus Nissen Kristensen has 13 goals and 18 assists in 95 appearances, and will command a decent fee if Brentford were to press on and get the deal done early in the summer.

He would fit in well in Frank’s 3-5-2 formation, which sees the full-backs push on an join the attack.

His contract at Salzburg runs out in 2025, but the defender has expressed his desire to take his career to the next level and a move to Brentford is being discussed this week.

The Bees enjoyed a great first season in the Premier League and their success has been impressive with a budget that was the lowest in the top flight.
