Latest transfer news and rumours on the transfer front involving Brentford as they prepare for the summer

Brentford secured their first signing of the summer by landing goalkeeper Mark Flekken from Freiburg on a four-year deal. His arrival at the Gtech Community Stadium could pave the way for current number one David Raya to move on ahead of next season.

The Bees have been linked with a few names over recent times as Thomas Frank looks to freshen up his ranks. His side finished 9th in the table in this past season.

Brentford have ‘submitted’ a bid for Sunderland winger Jack Clarke along with London rivals Crystal Palace and newly promoted Burnley. That’s according to reporter Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, who claims the Black Cats are trying to tie him down to a new contract to keep him at the Stadium of Light.

The 22-year-old helped Tony Mowbray’s men reach the Championship play-offs this past term but they were defeated over two legs by eventual winners Luton Town in the end. He has also played for Leeds United, Tottenham Hotspur, QPR and Stoke City in the past.

Coventry City’s Viktor Gyokeres has also been heavily mentioned as a potential transfer target for the Bees recently and he could be seen as a replacement for the suspended Ivan Toney. As detailed in a report by the Evening Standard, he ‘could’ leave the Sky Blues in the upcoming transfer window following their play-off final defeat at Wembley last weekend.

The Sweden international, who is 24-years-old, has fired 40 goals in 97 games for his current club and they will face a serious battle to keep hold of him. His contract expires in June 2024.

Brentford’s recruitment since their promotion to the top flight has been shrewd on the whole and they will need to get it right again as they look to build on their impressive first two years at this level.
