Brentford are reportedly interested in Lecce’s Morten Hjulmand. The Bees are being linked with the midfielder again ahead of the January transfer window.

According to a report by Italian news outlet CalcioMercato, the Premier League side are one of a few clubs keen on landing him. Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have also been mentioned as potential suitors, as have Serie A outfit Roma.

Brentford could see Hjulmand as someone to add more competition and depth into their options in the middle of the park. Thomas Frank’s side have enjoyed a positive first few months of this season and won 2-1 away at Manchester City before the World Cup break.

Hjulmand would fit the bill for the London club as he is a decent age at 23-years-old, has the potential to grow and develop in the future and has already racked up a decent amount of games so far in his career. He started out at FC Copenhagen in his native Denmark before moving to Austria as a youngster.

The former Danish youth international linked up with Admira Wacker in 2018 and broke into their first-team before moving to Italy in 2021. He has since become a key player for Lecce but they face a battle to keep him.

Brentford are being credited with an interest again but will have to bat away possible competition from Dortmund and Roma if they are to lure him to England this winter.
