Arsenal transfer targets confirmed as Mikel Arteta eyes Ajax defender and 27-goal star

Arsenal have shortlisted Ajax defender Jorred Hato and Nice centre back Jean-Clair Todibo as their top defensive targets this summer, LondonWorld understands.

Mikel Arteta's side boast one of the best defensive partnerships in the league in William Saliba and Gabriel, but will be looking to add depth to that area when the summer transfer window comes around.

Gabriel is close to signing improved terms on a new contract, while the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jakub Kiwior have filled in at left back this season.

18-year-old Hato has been one of Ajax's most consistent performers this season and is a left-footed centre back who can also play at left-back.

Todibo is wanted by Premier League teams including Manchester United and Liverpool, with the French defender keen on making a move away from Nice this summer.

Meanwhile, Arsenal remain interested in Viktor Gyokeres as a solution for the striker position this summer.

Gyokores has scored 27 goals and notched 10 assists in the Portuguese top flight this season, with Arsenal among many interested teams in the forward.

“Stay next season? It's football, it's normal, I can't promise anything,” he told A Bola.

“I really like being here, but in football everything happens very fast and we have to adapt.

“I can't make so many predictions, it's difficult, there are still games this season, then we'll see.”

Arteta's side have two Premier League games remaining against Manchester United and Everton, as they look to win their first Premier League title since 2004.
