Arsenal were able to do excellent business during the last transfer window as they brought in Manchester City duo Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko as well as others like Fabio Vieira.

The signing of Jesus in particular has proven an excellent move, giving the Gunners a much needed focal point at the top of the pitch and the Brazilian has hit the ground running the Emirates Stadium with six goals in 14 games across all competitions. However, he wasn’t the only centre forward linked with the North London side in the summer. Napoli forward Victor Osimhen was the subject of much speculation linking him with some of Europe’s top clubs including Mikel Arteta’s side and also Manchester United.

It looked like the 23-year old Nigerian would be set for a big money move but the player’s agent has now come out and quashed suggestions that he could have left the Serie A club, stating clearly that it was always his desire to remain in Naples. Per GOAL, Osimhen’s agent oberto Calenda said: “We haven’t found out now that Osimhen is the subject of interest from so many teams, but things are done in three: who sells, who buys and the player. I was immediately clear this summer because I knew there would be a lot of news coming out from those who had other interests perhaps. But I, the boy and Napoli had very clear ideas.

“Whoever talked about a departure made a mistake. It was Victor’s will to stay at Napoli and play the Champions League that he won entry to last year together with his team-mates. Victor wanted exactly that, to have a great year with Napoli, between the league and the Champions League. He has a long contract with the Azzurri. The market is dynamic, but our will is to continue at Napoli and continue to do well.”

Osimhen, who began his senior career with VFL Wolfsburg in Germany before spells in France and Belgium, has scored four goals in eight appearances for Napoli this season and featured in the Champions League matches against Ajax and Liverpool.
